Hey fellow ULissers!

Does anybody have any experience in growing (micro)algae at home? I heard and read a little bit about how to grow them and got curious. So if anybody already tried or has recommendations please let me know :)

Thank you in advance

Malena

Hello Malena!

Thank you for this new topic (and idea 😁)! Tomorrow I'll meet with Professor Anabela Raymundo (who taught the microalgae subject on e-learning) regarding my dissertation, so I can ask her about this.

I'll let you know if she has any insight!

Have a great evening 🙂

Xavier

Hello Alba!

Not yet unfortunately, but I didn't forgot this idea (also because made me curious about it). When I have the chance, I'll ask Professor Anabela, to understand if she has any insight about this topic 😁

Have a great evening,

Xavier

Dear Malena, Alba, and all the ULissers,

Professor Anabela Raymundo has some insights about this topic. She says that grow microalgae at home is easy, and a lot of people do it. For example, French people already grow Spirulina in their gardens! However, those who grow microalgae should be careful about undesired contaminations.

Prof. Anabela also told me that IKEA already has a structure to grow these organisms in our houses:

She suggests also taking a look at EABA website if you want to know more about projects related to microalgae (https://www.eaba-association.org/en), and even ask the organization about this.

If you have any other questions, please send them to us! Professor Anabela is very happy with your interest :)

Oh... and don't forget! Tomorrow ULisses mentors will host the second games night! All of you are very welcome!

Have a nice weekend,

Cheers,

Xavier
